Improve Your Smile with
Invisalign in Ottawa

In the past, people who wanted to straighten their smile had to undergo years of treatment with traditional metal braces. There simply wasn’t any other option.

But at Pretoria Bridge Dental, we’re proud to offer Invisalign treatment. We custom-make a series of clear, comfortable aligners — allowing our patients to straighten their teeth in a way that easily fits into their life.

The aligners are removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, which makes them extremely convenient. Their clear, nearly-invisible design makes them an ideal choice for adult professionals who want to maintain their image.

Invisalign allows you to get the straight, attractive smile you’ve always wanted — without interfering with your life.

The Many Advantages of
Invisalign vs. Smile Direct

Some patients have asked how Invisalign compares to Smile Direct. While both Invisalign and Smile Direct utilize a transparent aligner tray method for purposes of straightening teeth, that’s about where the similarities end. In its essence, Smile Direct is a do-it-yourself (DIY) means of straightening teeth, leaving it up to the patient (“customer” to them) to get the right impression of his or her teeth and rely on self-guidance and some internet videos to make sure the teeth alignment goes well.

By comparison, with Invisalign in Ottawa at Pretoria Bridge Dental, you are getting a full-service teeth straightening experience, with the guidance and ongoing support of a professional, highly experienced and caring team. We’re here all along the way, making sure to get the most accurate impression of your teeth so that the trays are custom sized for you; then we’ll see you every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and make adjustments. That’s how Invisalign is superior for straightening teeth.

Care Tips

Invisalign is the treatment of choice for those looking to straighten their teeth discretely and quickly. Thankfully, taking care of your aligners can be quite easy.

Cleaning your Invisalign trays frequently is one of the best approaches to take care of them. Get into the habit of cleaning them when you brush your teeth in the morning and the evening. To do this, carefully scrub both of your aligners with toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. By doing this, you can get rid of the bacteria in your aligners that might otherwise harm your teeth. Other tips to follow include:

  • Avoid using abrasive materials when cleaning your aligners t avoid making them dull and cloudy
  • When you remove your aligners, make sure you rinse them top avoid making your retainers a breeding ground for bacteria
  • Soak your Invisalign aligners daily to keep your aligners odor-free, hygienic, and virtually invisible!
  • Do not eat with your aligners in to avoid stain and damage
  • Make sure you brush and floss whenever you remove your Invisalign to avoid cavities and gingivitis
  • Always store your Invisalign aligners in their case to avoid damage and loss

Yes, but it depends. An overbite is one of the many dental conditions that invisalign can fix, however it depends on the severity of your overbite. Throughout your invisalign treatment, you will be using various aligners that are designed to fit your teeth at each stage of the treatment. Over time, your overbite will disappear leaving you with a healthier smile.

Invisalign are highly durable by design, but that does not mean it is impossible for them to become damaged. If you notice that your invisalign has been damaged, do not try to repair them yourself! You might end up causing more permanent damage.

If there is a small crack, you can continue wearing them until you are able to come into our clinic for a repair. Just be careful about putting them on and taking them off. Alternatively, if you are close to moving on to your next set of aligners you can call our clinic to see if it’s okay to do so. It can be dangerous to move through your invisalign treatment too quickly.

If your invisalign has been damaged, contact us immediately so that we can find a solution best for you!

Due to the nature of invisalign, it’s important to follow a basic cleaning procedure to deal with the bacteria build up that occurs. It is recommended that you do the following on a daily basis:

  • Brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any debris or food particles that have accumulated throughout the day
  • Rinse aligners every night with water or when taking them off and putting them on
  • Keep them in a protective case when not in use

You should be thoroughly cleaning your aligners on a nightly basis, usually when you do your nightly hygiene routine.

The invisalign treatment time can vary depending on the needs of a patient. If only a few teeth require straightening then the treatment time won’t be that long. If there is overcrowding or other dental conditions to treat, it will take longer to correct the issues. The average treatment time for invisalign is between 6-18 months.
